I hope everyone had a great NYE, mine was fairly quiet- but I’ve got some big resolutions.
I’m going to continue posting every Sunday and Wednesday (as I have been so far) with a tutorial every week or so. My next one will be for the money pouch on Sunday that I posted about on the 29th.
Today’s been a pretty relaxed day in terms of making, I only made one thing (but I’m pretty pleased with it!). It’s a Punisher themed messenger bag. Frank Castle’s one of my favourite comic book characters, so I thought I would make a homage. It might go up on the Etsy- it depends how many people like it!
Yesterday I added a new item to my Etsy, my first cushion for sale- a little decorative cushion with a folded star quilted design on the front. It’s the first time I’ve used a design from one of the books I got over the Christmas break, Quilting Step By Step by Maggi Gordon. (I did a slight double take when I just checked the author- one of my favourite shows- The Newsroom- has a character called Maggie Jordan. Useless but true information.)
I’ve recently really gotten into looking to books and magazines for ideas and patterns, and tips for how to write tutorials. They can be really helpful for suggestions, tips and little tricks you might not have thought about on your own, like finishing of quilts and new block designs. My favourite crafty magazine at the moment is ‘Love Patchwork and Quilting’, which I got a copy of at Hobbycraft. It’s only on it’s third issue and it has a lot of great ideas, suggestions and articles, plus free sweetheart pins in the latest issue.
I’ll leave it at that for now, and start work on a quilted wall hanging design for my room- that may end up on here.
Thanks for reading and have a great 2014,
